Sometimes You Need To See It Before You Understand It
Share
One thing I have learned about myself is that I process deeply through observation.
Not just information. Not just theory.
Experience.
I noticed this years ago when I began realizing my daughter may have autism.
And honestly? I did not fully understand what I was looking at yet.
So instead of:
- pretending
- assuming
- panicking
- or emotionally spiraling,
I sought proximity.
I intentionally spent time around another parent who was raising a nonverbal autistic child.
And honestly? Watching how they moved through:
- communication
- routines
- emotional regulation
- patience
- caregiving
- everyday interactions
helped me understand my own situation more clearly.
That experience taught me something powerful.
Sometimes you need to see something lived out before you can fully understand it.
And honestly? I think that applies to many areas of life.
Sometimes:
- healing becomes clearer when you witness healthy peace.
- confidence becomes clearer when you experience grounded people.
- stewardship becomes clearer when you watch sustainable living.
- faith becomes clearer when you observe wisdom in action.
Observation teaches differently than explanation.
And honestly? That realization has shaped how I approach growth.
Because now I understand: proximity matters.
The people you observe, The environments you spend time in, The examples you repeatedly witness, all shape your understanding of what is possible.
And honestly? That is why I value:
- mentorship
- community
- wisdom
- healthy examples
- lived experience
Not perfection.
Just evidence that healthier ways of living actually exist.
