The Space Between Impulse And Choice
Share
What changes when you notice a pattern before you act on it?
One of the greatest gifts of growth is not perfection.
It is awareness.
For years, many of my responses were automatic.
Someone needed help.
I jumped in.
Someone had a problem.
I offered a solution.
Someone was uncomfortable.
I attempted to fix it.
The pattern wasn't necessarily wrong.
It was simply automatic.
Lately, I've begun noticing something different.
There is now a space between the impulse and the action.
A brief moment where I can observe what is happening.
A moment where I can ask:
Why am I doing this?
Is this necessary?
Is this mine?
What would happen if I simply listened?
That space is where freedom lives.
Because awareness creates options.
And options create choice.
The old program may still exist.
But it no longer gets to make every decision.
